The Short Track Canada Cup Junior Final will bring junior aged development skaters together to compete, learn and develop their sports skills AND social skills. We have seen the impact of the pandemic on our skating community and want to use this opportunity to encourage racing development as well as the holistic wellbeing of our junior aged skaters. Eligibility Competitors at the Short Track Canada Cup Junior Final must have reached the age of 14, but not the age of 19 by July 1st, 2021. (ISU Rule 108) Entry to the Short Track Canada Cup Junior Final is done through the following priorities up to a maximum number of entries (see above): High Performance Bulletin 194 – Selection Process 20 1. All skaters who qualified for the Canadian Junior Short Track Championships (who are also not competing in Canada Cup Final) 2. Remaining positions: Junior athletes, up to a field of 60, based on their combined 500m + 1500m/3 times as recorded from August 1st, 2021, to February 27th, 2022, in an SSC or PTSO sanctioned competition with electronic timing. Manual times will be accepted (adjusted upwards by 0.2). Special Consideration - As racing opportunities have been difficult to host in several communities, time entries will also be considered from local events and training sessions. Time Standard* - Safety recommendation Women: 52.79 seconds (500m minimum time recommendation) Men: 48.45 seconds (500m minimum time recommendation) (Times based on 115% of fastest time skated in the 2019 Canadian Junior Final) Time standard deadline: February 27, 2022 Posting of qualified skaters: February 28, 2022 Registration opens: February 28, 2022 Deadline to confirm/send entry and payment for qualified athletes: March 2, 2022 Posting of final list: March 4, 2022 Deadline for replacement of late withdrawals: March 14, 2022
