The Skate-Tec Western Elite Circuit #2 is a short track competition focused on developing speed skaters in Youth (*UPDATE: registration is now open to Youth 11-12 as well as Youth 13), Neo Junior (14-15 years old), Junior (16-18 years old) and Neo Senior (18-20 years old) categories. It provides challenging opportunities for skaters to develop their tactical awareness and execution of learned skills. The circuit provides a fun racing atmosphere and is an introduction for most skaters to the high-performance competition stream. The Circuit typically consists of three competitions, two hosted at the Olympic Oval, and one hosted at another venue in Western Canada. Schedule (TBC) Saturday Youth- 400m/1500m (100m track) NeoJunior and up – 1500m/500m (111m track) Sunday Youth- 800m (100m track) NeoJunior and up – 1000m (111m track) Format An all-finals ladder format will be used for the Skate-Tec Western Elite Circuit 2. Each distance is seeded based on the athlete’s entry seed times. This is an all-finals format. There are no advancements. Eligibility The Skate-Tec Western Elite Circuit 2 is open to skaters in Youth (13 years only), Neo Junior, Junior and Neo Senior age categories. The following minimum time standards* are in effect: WOMEN: 46.3 400m on the 100m track or 56.0 500m on the 111m track. MEN: 43.9 400m on the 100m track or 53.0 500m on the 111m track. **UPDATE: ** Time standard change for Youth 49.0 for 400m for MEN and WOMEN *Submitted times must be from an official competition and have to be achieved between July 1, 2022 and registration close date. Times skated in practice will not be accepted. Registration opens DECEMBER 15, 2023 at 9:00am Registration closes JANUARY 14, 2024 Registration fee: $95 + tax
